Saint Mary’s invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, renewable fixed-term
faculty position in Elementary Education/Education Foundations beginning in Fall 2026 in the School of Education. The individual in this
position will teach an average of 24 credits on the beautiful Winona, MN campus. We seek a scholar-practitioner who can collaborate at the
department level and across the University and local community. Applicants with experience in teacher preparation and/or teacher
professional development are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly if this experience has focused on elementary education in Catholic
school settings.
Candidates must hold a Master’s in Education or a related field with a focus on Elementary Education. A Ph.D. or
Ed.D. in Education is preferred. The candidate would ideally possess certification or demonstrable background and training in structured
literacy, science of reading and evidence-based approaches to reading instruction (CORE, LETRS, 95% Group, Orton-Gillingham, IMSE, IMSLEC,
or similar). They must have a strong commitment to student-centered teaching and/or research, a strong background in evidence-based teaching
methods, and a demonstrated ability to teach, advise, and mentor candidates who will teach in diverse educational and cultural contexts. The
candidate must be prepared to support teacher education students to make learning culturally relevant and connected to pressing issues for
humanity.
Salary Range: $50,000 – $58,000
Other Duties & Responsibilities
- Saint Mary’s
faculty
are expected to maintain an active scholarly agenda and demonstrate intellectual growth and significant achievement appropriate to
their
field. All faculty serve the University and community in many ways, such as academic advising, student and community outreach, and
participation in departmental and university-wide committees.
Experience and Education Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Master’s in Education or related field
- Evidence of at least three years elementary
education teacher of record
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Ph.D./Ed.D. in Education or related field (ABD will be
considered) - Science of Reading training completed
- Experience teaching in Catholic schools/Catholic education
- Experience in teacher education preparation
- Experience in program development and accreditation
- Evidence of college
teaching experience - Record of research and scholarly production
Physical Demands

Light work. Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects
weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of
walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered
capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all of these activities.
