About This Role

The
Journalism Education Association is hiring an Association Assistant to fulfill our mission of supporting free and responsible scholastic
journalism. The Assistant serves as a primary point of contact for members and provides administrative, operational, and programmatic
support across the association. The position works with an international membership comprising journalism teachers and advisers, as well as
the executive director, office staff and board members. This position is responsible for membership administration, customer service,
database management, program support, fulfillment activities, and general office coordination. The Association Assistant plays a key role in
ensuring members, volunteers, and various stakeholders receive timely, accurate, and professional support while helping maintain the smooth
day-to-day operation of the association.

This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, initiative, and a
commitment to providing excellent service to members and stakeholders. Currently, this position manages the physical office that is
maintained at the Journalism Education Association headquarters office at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS and will need to access
that office on a schedule that can be determined.



Direct contact and communication with members, officers and other staff happens at
conventions and special meetings. Some stress is related to meeting deadlines associated with convention and contest deadlines. Orders
supplies for the office. Positive enthusiastic approach with all aspects of the job, particularly since this person is often the primary
personal contact on behalf of Journalism Education Association.

Worksite Description


This position is Hybrid eligible. Currently, this
position manages the physical office that is maintained at the Journalism Education Association headquarters office at Kansas State
University in Manhattan, KS and will need to access that office on a schedule that can be determined. Employee must have availability and
access to the K-State campus as determined by the supervisor. Hybrid/remote work is granted at the discretion of the direct supervisor. An
employee who is working remotely must reside within the United States in order to comply with all federal and state laws, filings, or tax
requirements. Review K-State’s remote work policy details for more information.

All employees must reside in the United States when
they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of
Idaho.



What You’ll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Requires a high
    school diploma (or equivalent) and one year of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and
    experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and
    experience.
  • 2-4 years of administrative, membership, customer service, or association experience.
  • Strong organizational
    and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and
    database systems.
  • Comfortable with technology, adaptive and quick leaner
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with
    accuracy and professionalism.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, association, or membership organization.
  • Experience with
    association management systems (AMS).
  • Familiarity with volunteer-led organizations.
  • Experience supporting member programs
    or customer service functions.
  • Familiar with graphic design programs.
  • Familiar with Word Press.
