and aesthetically pleasing environment in which students, faculty, and staff can function and accomplish their educational objectives and by
supporting a patient care culture that continuously improves. Facilities Services’ responsibilities include Interior and Exterior Facilities
Support, Construction, Space Management, and Environmental Services.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Landscaping
and Grounds, this position is responsible for maintenance and supervision of all grounds related duties, including fertilizations, chemical
applications, staff, and scheduling tasks as needed required for athletic facilities and structures on the university funded Forest Hills
campus. Current responsibilities would include grounds maintenance for Golf Practice Range, Baseball Fields, Softball Field, Soccer Field,
and grounds around the Christenberry Fieldhouse, Golf House, and Literacy center. Position will also supervise and maintain landscape
maintenance, including irrigation, pressure washing, lawn maintenance, chemical applications, trimming of shrubs, trees, and groundcover.
Irrigation repair and diagnosis as needed. Responsibilities also include pressure washing hardscaped areas, planning, coordinating, and
implementing landscape renovation and installation projects, and overseeing all irrigation, pesticide and fertilizer applications. Provides
leadership to Christenberry Grounds staff and oversees daily assignments of work, training, safety, and quality-control programs as well as
annual performance evaluations. Additional responsibilities include care and regular maintenance of tools and equipment, oversight and
monitoring of inventory and identifying cost-effective approaches to providing services as well as providing leadership and direction to
staff responding to inclement weather events regarding debris cleanup.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities
include, but are not limited to:
Leadership
Provides leadership along with Manager of Grounds to Christenberry
Field House grounds maintenance staff on daily tasks, responsibilities, and scheduling of work.
Ensure that work is completed in a
safe manner with assignments being communicated in clear, professional manner.
Schedules and participates in all routine landscape
maintenance including mowing, weeding, trimming, planting, pruning, irrigation repair, chemical applications, and pressure washing to
maintain superior quality landscaping.
Oversees grounds staff performance and completes performance evaluations annually as needed
for CFH staff.
Fills in for Management during leave of absence.
Participates in recruitment for staff at all campuses.
Communications
Communicates equipment needs to Management and Mechanic to maintain optimum operations for the best quality
fields for athletic teams.
Regularly meets with Athletic staff to ensure the quality of fields and playing surfaces meets
expectations
Confers with University faculty, staff, and students regarding activities and facility concerns.
Serves as
liaison between Athletic staff and Landscaping and Ground staff.
Work Management
Assist with daily responsibilities at
Athletic Fields, Christenberry Fieldhouse, Golf Facility, Literacy Center, and other campuses as needed.
Trains employees in proper
techniques, safety guidelines, and applications when using equipment or chemicals to perform work.
Inputs data and records into
tracking software.
Helps team set up for events, including tents and trash cans.
Chemical Application and
Scheduling
Develops, coordinates and implements a campus pesticide program to include fertilization needs, herbicide needs, and
pre-emergent applications.
Develops a program to implement early ordering of materials to help reduce chemical costs.
Assist
with the ordering of chemicals and supply requirements needed for campus.
Assist with training employees in chemical safety, spraying
techniques, machine operations, calibration techniques, and chemical awareness.
Maintains chemical inventory for CFH and ensures
equipment is maintained and cleaned after use.
Primary point of contact for all chemical applications at Christenberry Field House
and Athletic Fields.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree from an accredited college or university in related
field. Five years’ experience in grounds maintenance work including two years in a supervisory capacity, or any combination of experience
and training. Valid Drivers License; Georgia Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification, Category 24, or the ability to pass the test
within 90 days of date of hire.

Salary : $20.29/hourly –
$25.34/hourly

Statement
