The Bilingual CTE Student Success Coach is a
dedicated
professional responsible for supporting CTE students identified through our early alert system or those not in good academic
standing. This
role involves providing personalized coaching, developing action plans, and connecting students with resources to enhance
their academic
performance and overall college experience. This position will also provide general academic advising to support functions
for college
initiatives and programs related to student success. Success Coaches will manage and coordinate an assigned student caseload and
collaborate
with relevant departmental personnel to ensure appropriate educational coaching and planning to meet academic and career goals.
All
responsibilities are in support of student success as outlined in Pikes Peak State College’s Strategic
Plan.



This is a
Perkins Grant funded assignment.

Multi-year grants are
funded based on the fiscal years for the full grant period. However,
there is no guarantee that funding is available year after year from
the awarding agencies. Employment with the college after each
grant-funded period is not assured.



Grant-funded positions cannot
guarantee a payout of leave benefits. Grant-funded employees are
encouraged to work with their supervisor to schedule and utilize annual
leave benefits during each grant fiscal year.

Grant funded
positions may be eligible for annual increases contingent upon awarded
yearly grant budgets and a satisfactory performance evaluation.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Bilingual – ability to read, write, and speak fluent
    Spanish and English
  • Two years of experience working in a higher education
    setting, particularly in student support, student
    retention, or academic advising.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with
    underrepresented student populations with efforts to close the
    opportunity gap.


Professional level experience is defined by
the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that
involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal
accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing,
integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado
revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt
positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to
be professional level work.



Preferred
Qualifications

  • Completed Master’s degree from a regionally
    accredited institution in post-secondary/higher education
    student affairs, post-secondary leadership, organizational management, psychology,
    education, educational psychology, or a closely related
    field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to
    build rapport with students from diverse
    backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with early alert systems and academic intervention
    strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and
    collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to promoting student
    success and equity in higher education.

Essential Functions, General Duties, Skills,
Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Manage caseload of CTE students identified as needing additional support by institutional
    methods (early alert, academic standing, etc.)
  • Develop personalized action plans to address challenges and set achievable
    goals.
  • Conduct regular and consistent outreach to caseload throughout the year with the goal of helping students navigate
    challenges.
  • Connect students with appropriate campus resources, including tutoring, counseling, and academic advising.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust plans as necessary to support student success.
  • Utilize data from the early alert system to
    track student progress and outcomes.
  • Document student interactions in accordance with department and institution polices.
  • Work closely with academic advisors, faculty, and other student services staff to support student retention and success
    initiatives.
  • Participate in regular interdepartmental meetings to discuss student progress and share best practices.
  • Analyze, track, and interpret data to improve student success outcomes of assigned caseload.
  • Provide registration help and
    degree planning support during peak advising periods.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff to foster a
    supportive academic environment.
  • Work effectively with college faculty, staff, and administrators in developing and maintaining
    collegial, trusting relationships for the effective support of students, staff, faculty, and community members.
  • Actively engages
    with related professional organizations such as AACC, NACADA, NASPA, etc. to stay informed of current practices to provide equity based,
    culturally competent, efficient, and fair services.
  • Support continuous assessment and process improvement for Advising &
    Testing
    services.
