Job Summary

The Billing Coordinator helps coordinate the insurance claim filings such as submissions, tracking, payment posting and allocation, and appeal of denials as well as submits and tracks pre-authorizations and pre-determinations for treatments.


General Responsibilities

  • Generates patient statements and other invoices
  • Works on data entry, posting payments, reconciling billings and invoices, checking balances and maintaining patient files
  • Works with insurance companies to perform insurance billing, review, and verification of accounts in accordance with program provisions
  • Verifies eligibility and benefits, obtaining pre-authorizations, entering medical codes, requesting payments, and resolving account issues
  • May assist with other functions of revenue cycle operations
  • May perform accounts receivable audits and adjustments
  • May run reports related to medical billing


Qualifications

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.


EDUCATION


Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)


Preferred

  • Courses in insurance billing, data processing, and medical terminology


WORK EXPERIENCE


Required

  • 2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, medical billing, or a related field

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.



Work Location

This is a fully remote position. However, this is subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.



Occasional on-campus attendance required for meetings as needed.

Advertised Salary



$18.00 to 19.00 per hour based on experience and internal equity
