Position Summary
Coordinates and supervises services, office space assignment, room and event scheduling at Texas Western Hall and
coordinates facilities efforts for the College of Liberal Arts buildings; maintains basic operational budgets and provides services related
to the needs of the facility.
Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Building and Operations Manager
is tasked with managing Texas Western Hall, UTEP’s latest state-of-the-art building, and serves as the point of contact for all buildings
(13 currently) associated with the College of Liberal Arts. Develops internal policies and procedures for building functions, maintenance,
scheduling, security, and emergencies in collaboration with administrators and other university departments.
Serves as
representative of the College of Liberal Arts to campus safety committees. Works with designated staff and faculty to implement safety
procedures throughout building.
Manages building and services and is available on call for building emergencies. Acts as liaison
with Facilities Services for building, grounds, and parking lots maintenance; emergency contingency planning; safety and chemical
management, and in-house environmental health and safety.
Acts as the point of contact for interaction with other service
departments and outside agencies for matters relating to the physical management of TWH; primary point of contact for routine maintenance
and after-hour emergencies; point of contact for routine State and Local Fire Departments inspections and fire drills.
Oversees
building security, including alarm, key, and swipe card access.
Liaises with Facilities Services to oversee and coordinate provision
of custodial services to ensure a high level of service in the building; coordinates routine and special custodial services as needed.
Receives and responds to building tenant reports regarding failure of systems (air conditioning/heating, water leaks, alarms, swipe card
systems, etc.). Coordinates repairs with Facilities Services and follows up to completion.
Coordinates with Key Shop electronic
access to the building for all faculty and staff. Maintains a current data base of keys issued, and electronic access.
Maintains a
current inventory of phone, data and fax lines in the building. Develops and distributes the building’s phone directory. Coordinates
emergency calling tree.
Responsible for proper signage in the building (name plates, floor directories, etc.)
Maintains a
current database containing space utilization and floor plans, schedules and records of available and used space.
Determines
suitability of space for requested activities and assigns meeting rooms, event space, and other facilities in TWH.
Maintains
database for reports coming from Facilities Services and implements safety and security rules and regulations as issued/requested by campus
units.
Compiles and submits reports as required by management, campus units and state, local, and other agencies.
Generates
original correspondence to internal and external customers.
Possesses advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and is
able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Performs other duties
as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
organization’s objectives, policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an

Degree

Experience: Four years of related experience and/or training to the essential
duties and responsibilities to include experience with materials purchasing, working with vendors, contractors and inspectors
