Job Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Representative/Cashier handles the centralized cash depository function for the Controller’s Office. This position is responsible for processing cash, check and electronic payments, bank deposits, and reconciling payments. Serves as the first point of contact for departments with AR inquiries. Operates the cashier window and processes all petty cash transactions.

Essential Functions:


  • Operate the cashier window: provide counter service to office customers; maintain inventory of petty cash and stamps; answer in-person inquiries.
  • Verify and process all cash and check payments for the college; reconcile, prepare and align transport bank deposits. Resolve deposit discrepancies with depositors or bank.
  • Process a wide variety of charges, credits, payments to student accounts and reconcile to computer reports for processing into general ledger. Balance cash drawer, record cash receipts and process incoming electronic cash transmissions.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to parents and students and other departments, respond to frequent inquiries referring to supervisor for policy clarification when needed.


The hourly range for this position is expected to be: $22.00 – 23.50 per hour.



Education/Skills Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Associate’s degree preferred.



  • A strong customer service orientation with positive, friendly, helpful attitude is required.
  • Strong data entry and computer skills.
  • Ability to work in multiple software environments with confidential information.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents:
1-3 year experience as a cashier or in an accounts receivable position.

  • Previous cash handling experience.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work independently in a busy office setting with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, faculty, staff, students, vendors and the general public.
  • A valid Driver’s license and the ability to meet the requirements of the College’s Motor Vehicle Use Policy required.

Standard Work Days and Hours:
19 hours per week. Ideal schedule would be Monday through Thursday, 10:00am – 2:00pm. Friday 11:00 am – 2:00 pm with some room for flexibility.
