Job Description
The Office of Clinical Experiences is seeking a full time Clinical Assistant Professor for Fall 2026.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as liaison between the Office of Clinical Experiences and school districts.
- Coordinate field placements for teacher certification students.
- Screen teacher certification applicants for program admission.
- Screen Field-Based Experience, Clinical Teaching, and Enhanced Yearlong Residency requests.
- Develop a relationship with partnering districts/schools that supports and enhances A&M-SA’s mission and goals.
- Directly observe A&M-SA students in the field.
- Provide on-going feedback to students regarding lesson plans, observations, etc.
- Arrange and conduct appraisal and assessment meetings to encourage and facilitate the professional growth of the teaching candidate.
- Attend required professional development activities.
- Provide support, guidance, and oral/written feedback to enhance student development as a classroom teacher.
- Meet with candidates and cooperating teachers throughout the semester to ensure clinical teaching success.
- Serve as Field Supervisor across various certification areas and ensure that difficulties or differences which may arise, and impact teachers-in-training are successfully remediated.
- Assist students in improving their professional decision-making abilities through critical self-re?ection and self-analysis.
- Assist students in preparing for the TExES exams.
Required Education and Experience:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
- Master’s degree in field relevant to the position.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate.
- Valid Texas Principal certificate.
- Five years of experience working in a supervisory role.
- Eight years of experience as a classroom teacher or administrator.
- Awareness and understanding of current teaching strategies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work with the public in a pleasant, cooperative, collaborative manner.
- Ability to travel to multiple school settings within a target area.
- Ability to navigate the University’s website and enter data.
Finalists will be required to provide original transcripts to the Office of Clinical Experiences. Prior to issuing a letter of appointment, official transcripts must be received directly from each degree-granting institution. We cannot accept transcripts issued directly to the candidate. If transcripts are from an international institution, it is the responsibility of the prospective faculty member to have the transcripts translated and evaluated by an approved credential evaluator.
