Description Summary


The Coordinator of Clinical Learning for Health Careers coordinates and oversees clinical learning experiences for students enrolled in the Nursing and Health Careers programs. The position ensures student and faculty readiness for clinical placement, manages clinical affiliation agreements, and maintains compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Working collaboratively with the Interim Dean, Department Chair, faculty, and clinical partners, the Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the College and clinical agencies. The Coordinator monitors clinical requirements, maintains documentation and reporting for accrediting and regulatory bodies (including IBON,ACEN, and, ICCB), and supports continuous quality improvement through data collection and evaluation of clinical learning outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities


Clinical Placement & Compliance Coordination

  • Coordinate student clinical placements with healthcare agencies.
  • Verify student and faculty compliance with clinical requirements, including health records,CPRcertification, and onboarding requirements.
  • Communicate clinical placement information to students, faculty, and clinical site liaisons.
  • Arrange orientation and onboarding for new clinical faculty at assigned clinical sites.
  • Coordinate electronic health record (EHR) training and clinical orientation processes.

Clinical Affiliation & Agency Relations


  • Serve as primary liaison between the College and clinical partner sites.
  • Maintain and track clinical affiliation agreements, including renewals and new agreements.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to clinical agencies.
  • Collect and review feedback from clinical site representatives regarding student performance and faculty supervision.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clinical partners and recognize participation through outreach and appreciation activities.

Accreditation, Reporting & Program Evaluation

  • Assist with required regulatory and accreditation reporting (IBON,ACEN,ICCB).
  • Maintain documentation supporting the Program’s Systematic Plan of Evaluation.
  • Coordinate employer and graduate surveys and compile outcome data.
  • Track and maintain records of clinical hours, attendance, and evaluations using clinical tracking systems (e.g., Trajecsys, ViewPoint or similar).
  • Prepare and maintain compliance records and reports.

Student & Faculty Support


  • Provide students with clinical requirements, deadlines, and compliance instructions.
  • Participate in student orientation, boot camps, and clinical preparation sessions.
  • Support faculty in clinical readiness procedures and documentation.
  • Assist with CPR training coordination and skills verification activities.
  • Assist with laboratory and simulation return-demonstration activities as needed.

Program Operations & Outreach

  • Update and maintain Nursing Program website information related to clinical requirements.
  • Represent the program at recruitment events, career fairs, and community outreach activities.
  • Participate in advisory committee activities and departmental meetings.
  • Maintain organized electronic filing systems consistent with departmental record-retention practices.

Supervision & Program Support


  • Oversee student workers or program assistants assigned to clinical support functions.
  • Coordinate the Sophomore Student Nurse Lab Assistance Program.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Illinois.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and instructional technology systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage records, prepare reports, and maintain data accuracy.
  • Strong organizational, communication and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, work independently with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications


  • Experience in staff development, clinical education, or teaching in health career department.
  • Experience working with regulatory or accreditation reporting.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management.
