Job Summary


The Custodian I serves as part of a team of 3-4 custodial staff. Each team is responsible for an
assigned list of buildings and facilities in line with APPA standards for custodial services. This Custodian position will be based on
Columbus State University’s main campus.


Responsibilities



Significant Duties & Responsibilities include: Performs and ensures cleaning requests are completed
properly and in accordance with APPA standards.; Assists in completing workloads for assigned buildings.; Responds to custodial emergencies
as needed.; Serve as a brand ambassador of University Operations and Columbus State University.; Other duties may be assigned.




Required Qualifications


Required Qualifications include: High
school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or one to three years of related custodial experience and/or training.



Proposed Salary



The proposed annualized salary for this position is $28,000 and includes full
benefits.



Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
include: Ability to frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and
arms.; Occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, taste, smell.; Considerable knowledge of proper custodial
services practices, techniques, and procedures.; Considerable knowledge of the operations and use of equipment, tools, and supplies used in
custodial maintenance.; Ability to occasionally lift 30-50 pounds.; Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short
correspondence, and memos.; Ability to write simple correspondence.; Must have excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Conditions of
Employment


All selected candidates are required to submit and successfully pass a background

required based upon specific position duties:

  • A credit check completed for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental
    Purchase Card usage;
  • Pre-employment drug testing for positions with high-risk responsibilities.
  • Motor vehicle
    reports are required for positions that are required to drive a Columbus State University fleet vehicle or other vehicle designated as a
    fleet vehicle. A successful drug screening will be required as a condition of employment a randomly thereafter.

For Faculty Hires: Final candidates will be
