Hours: May be required to work on weekends and holidays. Will be required to have a flexible work schedule,
to include but not limited to, working evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be available on an “On Call” basis.



FLSA status: non-exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.


Salary: $25,000 annually

Position Summary

Keeps internal areas and exterior entry areas of buildings in clean and orderly condition. Maintains an orderly,
clean and aesthetically pleasing environment within our campus buildings for our students, faculty, and customers.

Essential
Duties and Responsibilities:
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, polishes,
and vacuums floors, hallways, stairs, office space, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, showers, locker rooms, weight rooms,
gyms, and other work areas.

Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.


Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and
draperies/blinds.

Dusts (both high and low) of furniture, building surfaces and equipment.


Washes walls, bathroom stalls,
and woodwork.

Washes windows, door panels, and sills. May be required to use lift to reach higher windows.



Utilizes and
operates all types of custodial cleaning equipment including automated floor cleaning equipment.

Empties wastebaskets and transports
trash to disposal area.


Empties paper recycling baskets and transports them to paper collection bin.

Transports cleaning
equipment in pushcart between departments.


Maintains and requisitions cleaning products, bathroom supplies, and trash bags;
replenishes bathroom supplies.

Notifies supervisor concerning need for major or minor repairs to building systems including
lighting, plumbing, heating, and ventilating equipment.


Opens and closes campus buildings.

Complies with all State and
University policies.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Education: Less than
high school education



and

Experience: one or more years related experience and training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Communication Skills:

Ability to read a limited
number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability
to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to express oneself clearly to keep others informed.



Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these
operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.



Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply
common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no
variables.



This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to
obtain criminal history record information.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:


Preferred: Possess a valid
driver’s license issued by the State where the applicant resides and be insurable as defined in the UT System BPM 16-05-02.

Bilingual
(English/Spanish) preferred.

About the Department

The Union Building is the hub of Student Affairs,
housing more than a dozen of its departments including such vital services as the Student Health and Wellness Center, Counseling and
Psychological Services, and the Center for Accommodations and Support Services. The Union Building is also home to a food court, several
student lounges, a computer lab, the Union Cinema, the University Post Office, the UTEP Dinner Theatre, the Union Gallery, and a variety of
meeting and conference rooms. The El Paso Natural Gas Conference Center, completed in 1970 and known as the University Commons until its
renovation in the 1990s, has become an extension of the Union Building and hosts additional dining facilities and conference space. The
