Creighton University’s School of Dentistry is seeking to hire a Dental Assistant III
to work part-time in our After-hours clinic. Tentative schedule is Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00
p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The primary focus of the After-Hours clinic is to give an option to emergency rooms across the metro to send
patients who present to the emergency room after hours with pain or infection. This clinic will be exclusively dedicated to adult tooth
extractions. Up to nine patients per night will be seen on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Key Responsibilities
The Dental Assistant III position is responsible for assisting the residents and students covering the After-Hours Clinic.
- Checks in patients and collects established co-pay for the After-Hours Clinic and ensures the patient is properly checked out after the
procedure. - Prepares work areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies needed for patient care.
- Takes X-rays as needed
- Responsible for maintaining equipment and instruments as well as their proper disinfection, transportation practices,
sterilization, and storage. - Helps to assure authorizations and consents to treat and update medical histories.
- Make sure
that records are complete and up to date in a timely manner. - Ensure appropriate follow-up care is arranged.
Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited Dental Assisting School with Radiology Certification.
- 10
years of dental assisting experience-preferably serving vulnerable populations. - Experienced in operating and maintaining dental
equipment, notably portable dental units, mobile dental equipment, and portable radiographic equipment. - Documented experience in
complex dental delivery settings. - Experienced in interprofessional communication and the provision of interdisciplinary whole
person health care. - Experience with various electronic healthcare record (EHR) systems, medical and dental record keeping
practices. - Experience in applying HIPAA, FERPA, and Infection Control standards in both clinical and community-based
settings.
