Location

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.


Job Summary

Responsible for coordination of the environmental health program of the University’s Environmental Health and Safety operations. The incumbent implements and evaluates occupational health programs and applying control measures designed to mitigate health hazards and ensures University’s compliance with federal, state and local regulations and internal policies and procedures

Responsibilities


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plan and coordinate the University’s environmental health programs including occupational health, food safety and public health related programs
2. Conducts routine occupational health exposure assessments
3. Develops sampling plans and strategies for evaluation for chemical and physical hazards
4. Manages Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) programs and assists in general safety oversight
5. Advises and consults with university departments and student organizations on technical aspects of environmental health including food safety
6. Assists in inspection of water supplies, food service, swimming pools, and sports/recreation facilities and participates in epidemiological investigations related to food, water and other communicable diseases
7. Participates in emergency planning and response efforts
8. Interfaces with and provides consultation to departments, vendors, contractors and University community at-large
9. Participates in interdepartmental and cross-functional teams
10. Reviews new facility plans for compliance with applicable laws, regulations and best practices
11. Plans, develops and ensures timely delivery of required safety training
12. Maintains records and provides required reports to regulators
13. Provides supervisory and employee training in safety and loss prevention

Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s in environmental health, Environmental Science, Engineering, Public Health, Biology or Chemistry or related disciplines from an accredited institution of higher education.

Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver’s license


Required Experience
Five (5) years related work experience

Preferred Qualifications


Preferred Educational Qualifications
A Master’s degree in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, Public Health, Biology or Chemistry or related disciplines from an accredited institution of higher education.

Preferred Experience
Higher education experience
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH); Certified Safety Professionals (CSP); and/or Professional Engineer (PE)
Asbestos Inspector or Project Supervisor and Ergonomics and/or Food Safety certificates



Proposed Salary

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of federal and state safety rules and regulations
Knowledge and understanding of environmental Health, risk assessment, hazard analysis, and incident investigation.
Industrial Hygiene (IH) knowledge and skills including ability to plan and conduct exposure surveys and investigations


SKILLS
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, technology, organization, communication, time management, project management and presentation skills
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone etiquette
