Job Summary
The
Department of Recreational Sports is seeking multiple Event Athletic Trainers. These are part-time (0.10 FTE), 12-month, professional
faculty positions.
The Department of Recreational Sports is a unit of the Division of Student Affairs that is committed to
equalizing student success. We focus on informing, engaging, educating, equipping, and inspiring students as advocates for individual and

The Part-Time Athletic Trainer provides
athletic training services in support of Recreational Sport camps and Sport Club events, ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all
participants. Responsibilities include injury prevention, on-site event coverage, injury evaluation, referral for medical care, and
implementation of return-to-play protocols. The Athletic Trainer works collaboratively with Recreational Sports staff and contracted
providers to coordinate timely and effective care, maintains accurate and confidential medical documentation, and communicates relevant
information to appropriate stakeholders as needed.
This position contributes to a safe and inclusive Recreational Sports environment,
supporting the overall participant experience by providing quality care and guidance consistent with university policies, industry
standards, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. The Part-Time Athletic Trainer reports to the Athletic Training Coordinator
in the Operations Department and works closely with departmental staff, student participants, and contracted providers to support events and
programs that enhance engagement and wellness across the Recreational Sports community.

What You Will Need
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a CAATE-accredited program
- Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification (ATC)
- Oregon State Health Licensing Athletic Trainer Licensure
- Certified Health Care Provider (CPR /AED)
- Ability to prioritize and respond effectively in dynamic event settings (camps and
sport club events). - Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Commitment to promoting an inclusive environment for
students and staff. Successful completion of a criminal history check (required for critical or security-sensitive positions).
This
position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history
check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report
convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a
university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle
history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified
and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Demonstrated
experience providing athletic training coverage for camps, tournaments, or sport club events. - Knowledge of and experience in
emergency response and risk management for recreational or athletic events. - Experience collaborating with staff, coaches, or other
stakeholders to ensure coordinated care and participant safety. - Familiarity with documentation and communication procedures related
to athletic injuries and return-to-play protocols. - Experience working with student participants, volunteers, or interns in a
recreational sports setting. - Familiarity with industry standards, National Governing Body protocols, and university policies
relevant to athletic training and recreational sports programs.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
- Typical work schedule will be based on seasonal requirements and may include evening and weekend hours to provide coverage for
Recreational Sport camps and Sport Club events. - Position may involve exposure to human bodily fluids.
- Employee may be
required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds. - Work is primarily on-site at event locations, which may include
indoor and outdoor settings.
Pay Method: Hourly
Pay Period: 16th – 15th of the following
month
Pay Date: Last working day of the month
Recommended Full-Time Salary Range:
$30.00-$40.00
