Departmental Objective

Process and reconcile financial transactions in accordance with state, university, and federal compliance policies and procedures.


Purpose of the Position

This position is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, processing, and reconciling financial transactions into the Commonwealth Accounting and Reporting System (Cardinal) and the University accounting system (Banner). It is also responsible for processing financial transactions, accounts payable transactions, and complex general accounting functions in accordance with federal, state, and university policies.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze fiscal transactions for conformity with procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to accurately perform detailed work with numerical data.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret accounting reports and perform complex transactions using computerized accounting systems.
  • Proficient in the use of word processing and spreadsheet programs, and office equipment (calculator, 10-key, personal computer etc.).

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required



Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma


Experience:

  • Experience in a business or accounting office
  • Experience using computer software or programs (such as spreadsheets, word processing, or PDFs)
