Job Summary:
The Cafeteria Cook/Assistant Manager reports to the Cafeteria Manager in coordination with the Food Services Director with the primary duties of following cafeteria recipes in providing nutritious and attractive meals to be served in the cafeteria including banquets, luncheons, and carry-outs. Acts as a resource for the Food Services department and builds effective, strong working relationships to enhance department operations and functions. Assists the Manager in efficient, sanitary, and timely food preparation and clean-up of the cafeteria. These tasks are to be performed in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists the students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors
- Prepare food from cafeteria recipes
- Assist in other areas as requested
- Specific assignments are based on unit need and assigned by the supervisor which could include such things as adjusting recipes for serving amount, complete food preparation production sheets, clean up and sanitary conditions of assigned area, major cleaning of appliances, ensure proper storage and disposal of unused foods
Additional Responsibilities:
- In the absence of the Cafeteria Manager the Assistant Manager will manage kitchen tasks and duties of staff.
- Assist other departmental staff during the times needed.
- Promote personal safety, safety procedures and a safe work environment.
- Assist in emergency situations as called upon.
Work Setting:
- Expectation of on-campus presence with attendance and punctuality

Minimum Requirements:
- Basic written, verbal, math skills, and interpersonal skills
- Utilize kitchen equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or acceptable equivalent experience
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or their designee may find appropriate
Competencies:
- Organized, manages time effectively, and keeps tasks appropriately prioritized
- Ability to work with, assist, lead, and take directions from others in the interest of moving processes and programs forward to the desired outcome
