Range: Starting at $87,500 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary
This position will oversee daily operations and maintenance of UTSA Libraries and Museums
facilities, ensuring spaces are safe and welcoming for all. The Head of Facilities will lead innovative space planning and renovation
projects that align with our strategic vision, while managing budgets and resources efficiently using online facilities management tools. In
addition, this role will supervise and support a dedicated team, fostering an environment of growth and collaboration. Serve as a liaison
between our leadership and university facilities departments, driving compliance and sustainability initiatives. Lastly, this position will
oversee the organization’s project portfolio and project management processes.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversees
daily operations of the libraries and museum facilities and manages maintenance and repair schedules to minimize disruptions. Develops and
implements safety protocols and emergency preparedness standards in compliance with university guidelines, monitors facility conditions, and
maintains vendor relationships to address service needs efficiently. Coordinates with custodial services to ensure a clean, safe, and
welcoming environment across all library and museum facilities. - Leads space planning and renovation projects, coordinating with
stakeholders to meet UTSA’s strategic objectives. Collaborates with Libraries and Museums leadership on long-term space plans,
accessibility, and energy-efficiency projects. Supports relocation or refurbishment projects, ensuring timely execution and adherence to
budget. - Oversees the Libraries and Museums strategic project portfolio, project governance, and project processes. Ensures
multi-directional strategic project communication among project managers, stakeholders, and the organization at large. Advocates for the use
of project management in accomplishing strategic and complex work. - Manages the facilities budget, tracks expenditures, and
identifies cost-saving opportunities. Oversees the university’s inventory process for Libraries and Museums, ensuring accurate asset
tracking, compliance, and reporting. Responsible for procuring equipment and furniture and collaborating with university partners on capital
expenditure requests for upgrades and improvements. Works with enterprise systems, including iService Desk and PeopleSoft. - Supervises and supports facilities staff by fostering collaboration, providing regular feedback, coaching, and mentorship, and
coordinating training and development opportunities. Directs the daily activities of facilities personnel, including custodial, maintenance,
logistics, and administrative support staff. Leads the Facilities Working Group in developing and implementing strategic projects that align
with the Libraries and Museums’ mission and goals. - Ensures compliance with UTSA policies, state and federal regulations, and
facility operations standards and maintains accurate records of inspections, repairs, and routine maintenance. Develops and maintains
facility usage and occupancy reports and coordinates emergency management and business continuity planning. Coordinates with risk management
and police to ensure compliance with fire codes, ADA requirements, and other safety regulations. - Serves as the primary liaison
between Libraries and Museums leadership and the university’s facilities and real estate departments, addressing facility-related needs and
concerns. Leads meetings with key stakeholders to review facility updates, share plans for upcoming projects, and gather feedback on
facility needs. Advises the Vice Provost on facilities matters. Collaborates on sustainability projects and ensures compliance with lease
agreements for storage spaces. - Performs other duties as assigned.
Required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Seven (7) years of work experience in Higher Education or
related experience. - This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its
infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with software management systems and technology.
- Demonstrated experience with cloud-based project management tools.
- Familiarity with asset and inventory
management. - Familiarity with universal design principles and ADA.
- Managerial experience, specifically in a university or
library setting. - Experience managing large capital projects

Working Conditions
Physical Demands
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry,
push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking
expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a
valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of
