SUMMARY

The Rochester Educational Opportunity Center (REOC), part of SUNY Brockport, is accepting applications
for a Health Care Lecturer. Reporting to the Practical Nursing Program Coordinator, the Health Care Lecturer has the responsibility of
teaching twenty contact hours per week, which includes classroom, lab, and clinical instruction. Other key job responsibilities will
include, but are not limited to: reviewing and planning course content and course information sheets; curriculum planning and review; lesson
planning; evaluating and guiding student’s learning experiences; participating in the selection of textbooks, course materials, and computer
software; reporting job and college placements; engaging in academic advisement; attending REOC staff and Healthcare department meetings;
participating in ongoing professional development; keeping four office hours per week; and serving on a minimum of two center-wide
committees. This is a full-time, 12 month, non-tenure track position.


JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential
Functions:

  • Classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction.
  • Utilizes data to inform and plan instruction and
    learning experiences.
  • Faculty meeting and committee work to support the Health Care Department.
  • Tutors and assists with
    remedial needs of students.
  • Accurately records and timely submits grades, attendance, and evaluations.
  • Enforces policies of
    REOC and program
  • Adheres to nursing code of ethics
  • Participates on two center committees, attends center-wide events, and
    serves on community-related committees as appropriate.


REQUIREMENTS

Minimum
Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in nursing, or a Bachelor’s degree in nursing with active enrollment in a Master’s degree
    program in nursing from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized
    institution.
  • Current unencumbered New York State RN license by start date
  • Demonstrated experience in training/teaching or
    classroom management
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate with individuals from diverse
    backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated experience in acute medical surgical nursing and
    long-term care
  • Experience teaching practical nursing
  • Experience teaching adult learners

Work Schedule:


37.5 hours/week: Monday-Friday, 8 am-4
pm.
