BASIC PURPOSE

Basic Purpose:
Reporting to the Hospitality Institute Operations and Events Manager, this part-time, temporary casual role assists with the execution of daily operations in the Hospitality Institute (HI).
*This position requires the PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Check and FBI Fingerprints as a condition of employment.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Hospitality Institute Aide Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Operations and Events manager:


  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of Hospitality Institute labs, sculleries, dry storage, coolers, freezers, and equipment based on HACCP and standard operating procedures.
  • Execute daily dishwashing duties and cleaning of dish room
  • Inspects food and product deliveries received against invoices for accuracy and quality.
  • Stocks, restocks, and rotates inventory in dry storage, coolers, and freezers.
  • Fills requisitions for Hospitality Institute functions including labs, culinary enthusiast sessions, and summer camps.
  • Prepares, labels, and stores food product consistent with industry and Hospitality Institute Standards
  • Assists in preparation, set-up, execution, breakdown, and cleaning of catering and campus program events.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Position Requirements:


  • High School Diploma required.
  • Applicants must have a comprehensive understanding of working in a kitchen, mise en place.
  • Preferred 2-5 years experience in high volume food preparation and/or foodservice
  • Ability to lift to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Ability to continuously stand (90% of working hours) with occasional walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, kneeling and reaching.
