Essential Job Duties
- Provides reference and research assistance to
library patrons and staff. - Coordinates “specialized instruction” programming, which includes activities such as orientation, course
related bibliographic instruction and in-house training. - Develops information literacy classes for undergraduate and graduate
students. - Works with the Head of Reference Services to customize databases to maximize usability for Tuskegee University students,
faculty and staff. - Understand and use subscription databases and the book collection in search of materials that meet the user’s
needs. - Assist in the development and design of marketing information services to the Tuskegee University Community.
- Collaborate with library faculty in developing, implementing and assessing new instructional initiatives.
- Create and update
LibGuides, FAQs, monitor and answer questions from the Ask a Librarian platform. - Facilitate consistent and timely access to
electronic resources by maintaining and updating links, troubleshooting, and providing user support. - Evaluate new products and
services for possible library use. - Collect statistics.
- Serves on library and University committees.
- Serve as
liaisons to specific departments, providing collection development and outreach to faculty. - Perform related duties as
required.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
- Master of Library Services (MLS)
from an ALA accredited institution. - At least one year of teaching experience or library experience at a professional level working
knowledge of a wide variety of electronic reference databases/ Internet.
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent
communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills. - Computer literate in Social Media.
- Working knowledge of
Springshare software specifically, LibGuides, LibAnswers, and Ask a Librarian. - Working knowledge and understanding of Zoom
software. - Ability to effectively interact with library staff and the university community
