POSITION SPECIFICS
Penn State Behrend invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure line teaching position in the undergraduate nursing program. Penn State’s B.S.N. degree is offered through the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing at University Park, and at Behrend the program is situated within the School of Science. As one of the most comprehensive nursing colleges among public universities nationwide, the Nese College of Nursing serves over 2,100 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. Our global footprint enables faculty to create impactful, transformative experiences for students around the world.
This is a 36-week, full-time appointment, with excellent potential for renewal. The position includes full benefits, with an anticipated start date as early as Spring 2026.
Penn State Behrend is an undergraduate and graduate college of The Pennsylvania State University. Primary Responsibilities
- Teach in the undergraduate and/or second-degree nursing program. Opportunity to include fall, spring and/or summer instruction.
- Provide coordination and instruction in medical-surgical nursing in various healthcare settings which could include the simulation lab, acute care and long-term care facilities.
- Advise students, participate in college and university committees, and engage in service and scholarship as appropriate
Qualifications
- Doctoral preparation (e.g., DNP, PhD) is preferred
- Candidates with a doctorate will be considered for the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor or higher, depending on credentials
- Candidates with a master’s degree in nursing will also be considered and hired at the rank of Instructor. Master’s candidates are required to obtain a doctorate within five years of hire
- Must hold a valid RN license and be eligible for RN licensure in Pennsylvania
- Candidates with Certification Nurse Educator (CNE) and certification in specialty preferred.
- Evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and subject matter expertise is required
