Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities


Maintain, repair and make improvements to facilities as instructed.

  • Assist the various trades and carry out duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Will assist in the repair, maintenance and installation of various components that are consistent with the assigned shop. Rotations may include Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC/Mechanical, Trades and Central Plant.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Requirements


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements

  • One year experience in basic maintenance or trades, including use of common tools and equipment, or two years of vocational training.
  • General knowledge of skilled trades such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical or HVAC.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and carry out task assigned.
  • Must have both written and oral skills.
  • Knowledge of safe working procedures.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements to operate a university vehicle.

Hourly Rate/Annual Salary
$13.64 (Additional pay dependent upon qualifications)



Staff Grade: 101

Work Hours: Eight hours per day, five days per week; occasional overtime. Emergency call back after hours and on weekends. This position will be required to work to provide critical services during University holidays, closures, and other emergencies, as needed. Critical services refer to the units that ensure the continuation of key operations and services that directly relate to the security, safety, and/or physical operation of the University (including services to students). Critical services employees will be required to report to work unless their supervisor advises otherwise.



Physical Demands

  • Must be able to access and work in all work areas including, but not limited to, roofs, crawl spaces, mechanical rooms, on scaffolding, climbing ladders, on lift units, etc.
  • Lifting and moving heavy objects, contact with potentially biohazardous materials, working in extremely hot or cold weather.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
