Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain, repair and make improvements to facilities as instructed.
- Maintaining facilities in good state of repair, quality of work performed, proper care and maintenance of assigned tools and supplies.
- Thorough knowledge of safe working conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements
- Three years of experience in the maintenance field, with both knowledge of and time working in at least one of the following skilled trades: Building Trades, Plumbing, HVAC/Mechanical, Electrical, or Central Plant operations.
- Vocational training may be exchanged for a portion of experience at the rate of one-half times per year.
- Must have an EPA Universal Refrigerant Certificate.
- Must have specific experience and skills working in and around HVAC equipment, refrigeration, chilled water, steam, and hot water boilers.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications
- Applicable certification or licensure for specific trade craft is preferred.
Hourly Rate/Annual Salary
$19.39 (Additional pay dependent upon qualifications)
Staff Grade: 108
Work Hours: Eight hours per day, five days per week; occasional overtime. Emergency callback after hours and on weekends. This position will be required to work to provide critical services during University holidays, closures, and other emergencies, as needed. Critical services refer to the units that ensure the continuation of key operations and services that directly relate to the security, safety, and/or physical operation of the University (including services to students). Critical services employees will be required to report to work unless their supervisor advises otherwise.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to access and work in all work areas including, but not limited to, roofs, crawl spaces, mechanical rooms, on scaffolding, climbing ladders, on lift units, etc.
- Lifting and moving heavy objects, contact with potentially biohazardous materials, working in extremely hot or cold weather.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
