Department Summary


The Manager,
Electric and Life Safety, exists to provide a safe and healthy environment where members of the campus community can pursue their diverse
institutional goals and objectives. They are directly responsible for daily service, repairs, maintenance, and operation of campus
electrical and life safety systems and other critical campus equipment. They oversee twenty (20) technicians, as well as outside
contractors, temporary workers, and student labor. Their primary objectives are to ensure safety, perform maintenance, make repairs, improve
reliability, and reduce energy consumption.

Primary Accountabilities:



1. The
Manager, Electric and Life Safety, directs the day-to-day operations of the shop assigned craftsmen for Facilities Management and Safety.
The Electric Shop is comprised of two groups of technicians; those that maintain electric distribution across campus and within Facilities,
and those that maintain low voltage systems like Ethernet cable system campus-wide.

Position
Profile

Ensures smooth operation and upkeep of equipment and facilities through regular inspections, repairs, and
preventive measures. Troubleshoots issues, performs maintenance tasks, and ensures compliance with safety standards. Ensures the upkeep and
functionality of buildings and grounds to provide a conducive and safe environment for students, staff, and
faculty.



Level Summary

Responsible for the management of a unit that performs diverse but
related tasks. Handles work and budget planning, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve team objectives. Contributes to
divisional or departmental operational plans by aligning unit goals with broader institutional strategies. Accountable for meeting
short-term objectives and driving continuous improvement.



Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages
a large team or multiple teams. Directly oversees at least 2.0 FTE employees or one or more supervisors. Has
authority to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, manage performance, discharge, assign duties, reward, and discipline
employees.



Fiscal Responsibilities

Oversees large budgets, including departmental and
program-level budgets.



Problem Solving

Solves strategic, organizational problems and ensures
continuous improvement.


Independence of Action

High degree of autonomy in decision-making,
accountable for large areas.


Communication and Collaboration

Collaborates with executive
leadership and external partners to drive organizational goals.


Physical Requirements

This
role requires a range of physical activities, including sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, crawling, stooping,
bending, squatting, lifting, pulling, and performing repetitive tasks with both hands, including overhead work. Normal (or correctable)
vision and hearing are required, and certain positions may also require color vision and a functional sense of
smell.



Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Master’s degree in a related field, 8 or more years
of related professional experience, and 5 or more years of supervisory experience, or equivalent education and
experience.

Pay Rate: The target salary range for
this position is Pay Grade 19 – $68,299 – $117,127, commensurate with the selected candidate’s education and experience while considering
internal equity. RELOCATION allowance or SIGN-ON BONUS of up to 10% of the base salary may also be available! Ohio University is proud to
