Job Summary: 

This is a full-time position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the University’s Equine Breeding Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Supervising students and student staff in a teaching environment
  • Regular collaboration with equine faculty
  • Care and stewardship of the horses and facilities
  • Management of the breeding program
  • Establishing a positive involvement in student learning through laboratory exercises
  • Presenting a positive image of the breeding industry to the students, university, public, and guests
  • Performing basic facility, grounds, and equipment maintenance.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 


Additional requirements include:

  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to safely drive truck and large horse trailer
  • working knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills.

Education and Experience: 


Position requires:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree (degree in related field preferred)
  • Previous breeding industry and barn manager experience

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:


  • Typically standing or walking
  • Outdoor exposure to weather
  • Occasional travel
  • Ability to lift 50 or more pounds

Selected applicants will be responsible for providing the University with clearances, appropriate to the position, that have been completed within the last 5 years. These clearances include, but are not limited to the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Fingerprints completed by IDENTGO, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History clearance.
