Under the supervision of the Department Clinical Director and the Stereotactic Radiosurgery Program Director, the Department of Neurosurgery is looking to hire a motivated Patient Care Coordinator to organize and manage weekly interdisciplinary Stereotactic Radiation Program meetings involving neurosurgeons and radiation oncologists. The role provides scribe support to physicians across subspecialties, assisting with outpatient medical record documentation, including histories, examinations, assessments and plans, procedure notes, diagnostic results, patient instructions, level of service, and charge capture.

Responsibilities also include scheduling follow-up appointments, entering orders and referrals, preparing after-visit summaries, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation. The incumbent will review documentation with physicians at the conclusion of each visit, monitor chart completion, and route incomplete records to providers as needed. Working closely with assigned providers, the coordinator serves as an integral member of the neurosurgery clinical care team.



Hourly range: $26.42-$37.49

Qualifications Required:
  • High degree of adaptability
  • Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload and assignments, pressures of deadlines, and/or a heavy workload.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of physician office policies and procedures
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationship with medical, nursing and administrative personnel
  • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction
  • Working knowledge of patient related policies and procedures, as well as a thorough understanding of the University system
  • Familiarity with physician office billing procedures
  • Verbal and composition skills to convey detailed medical information
  • Working knowledge of PC including the following software: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Windows.
  • Skill speaking on a one to one basis with persons of various social, economic, and cultural backgrounds to obtain information and explain procedures.
  • Ability to make independent decisions.

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of University’s Electronic Medical Record System.
  • Knowledge of University forms and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of neurosurgical medical terminology to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses and other members of the health care community. Current knowledge of neurosurgical diagnosis, treatments, and terminology.
