Job Description:


Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by providing exceptional customer service through interaction with students, families, and external contacts regarding inquiries on all aspects of a student’s account. Performs essential administrative functions to maintain the quality and integrity of student accounts.


This is a 40 hour per week and 52 weeks per year 1.0 FTE position.


Essential Functions

  1. Performs essential administrative functions to maintain accuracy of student accounts by assisting with posting payments, issuing refunds, updating, and monitoring student payment plans.
    1. Enters Account Receivables
    2. Processes non student deposits/payments
    3. Issues travel advances to staff or students
    4. Handles cash
    5. Scans bank deposits.

  2. Assists students and parents on financial or account matters via phone, email, and in person.
  3. Assists students and family members with navigating third party systems while providing clear instructions on how to use those systems.
  4. Reviews cashiering sessions for accuracy.
  5. Coordinates and maintains the day-to-day functions of student accounts.
  6. Enforces Norwich policies as related to student accounts to include placing financial holds, registration holds, and diploma hold releases.
  7. Assists with and understands configurations of internal systems.
  8. Provides weekly cash management analysis related to payables.


Other Functions

  1. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information.
  2. Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.
  3. Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned.
  4. Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software.
  5. Speaks, reads, and writes in English.
  6. Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device.
  7. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, 2 years of college coursework or degree preferred.
  • 2 years of working in a financial setting, accounts receivable experience, and cash management experience are beneficial.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook)
  • Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 20 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus.
  • Limited evening or weekend hours.

Environmental Conditions


  • Indoor work at a computer workstation
  • Low level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes.
