Job Description:

Function of Position:

GIST mentor/tutor will provide GIST workflow support for introductory and advanced GIST courses.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

• GIST mentor/tutor will provide GIST workflow support for introductory and advanced GIST courses
• Will provide small cohort (3-6 students) support for two introductory remote sensing courses
• Mentoring/tutoring will be provided via Zoom and in person in the GIST computer lab

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of a GIST Certificate or higher with experience with raster and vector data, data acquisition and management, remote sensing, cartography, web mapping, and spatial analysis.
• GIST tutoring experience is required
• The position requires one to be in person at MCC’s Brighton campus

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of MCC’s GIST courses
• Bilingual

Pay Rate: $25 an hour

Job Type: Part-Time

Hours: 4 Hours per Week for Fall 2026 Semester and Spring 2027 Semester

This position involves primarily sedentary work, including prolonged periods of computer use and keyboarding. The role requires the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. Occasional travel between campus buildings or to other local or out-of-town locations for meetings or conferences may be required.
