Job Description
The Public Safety Dispatcher processes calls regarding emergency and non-emergency situations in a 24/7/365 operation. This position handles calls for service (via radio, telephone and other electronic means) from throughout Wellesley College and the Town of Wellesley, ensuring an appropriate response is dispatched in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and WC policy and procedures. The successful candidate is an expert multi-tasker who can remain calm in high stress situations and provide excellent customer service. The Public Safety Dispatcher is also comfortable utilizing complex computerized systems and interacting with all members of the Wellesley College community (students, parents, visitors, faculty, and staff). Responsible for maintaining the status of Public Safety personnel on shift or special assignment within the Computer Aided Dispatch, (CAD), system. Monitors intrusion alarms and fire surveillance systems.
Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous customer service experience required. At least one year experience in a public safety environment preferred (i.e. police, fire, EMS, security, dispatch). Higher education experience preferred

Must attend required 40 hours dispatcher training

This is a part time, up to 16 hours a week, non benefitted position

Hours and shifts vary dependent on scheduled vacancies
Salary
The pay range for the role is $23 to $25 an hour
