Posting Description



PROJECT TECHNICIAN, Mechanical EngineeringPappalardo Lab, will support teaching, course projects,
and events for Mechanical Engineering classes and outreach programs; provide instruction and supervision in fabrication methods, mechanical
design, equipment operation, machining practices, and shop safety; monitor student work and advise on fabrication approaches and appropriate
tool use; help students complete course projects; prepare instructional materials; support presentations and demonstrations; assist with
2.009, 2.670, and 2.007, with possible support for 2.671, 2.678, the Women’s Technology Program, Discover Mechanical Engineering, and other
programs; maintain equipment, tooling, and work areas in the machine shop, student assembly areas, woodshop, and waterjet facility; set up
lab spaces; organize materials; and ensure tools and equipment are safe, functional, and ready for use.

Job Requirements


REQUIRED: Graduation from a
two-year day technical school or equivalent; minimum of ten years of applicable experience; sound basic knowledge of fabrication, machining,
and laboratory operations; proficiency with manual and CNC milling, turning, welding, woodworking, carpentry, and sheet metal fabrication;
experience mentoring undergraduates on fabrication-based projects; ability to organize and maintain project workspaces and follow and
enforce safety policies; strong judgment, initiative, troubleshooting skills, collaboration skills, and ability to balance instructional
support, shop operations, and multiple course deadlines. PREFERRED: Experience supporting engineering design courses, student
project laboratories, or outreach programs.
