Job Summary:

The Senior Financial Assistant is responsible for supporting the financial functions of the university by
maintaining financial processes, collecting information, reconciling, and summarizing accounts. This position manages most of the
Cash-related student payments duties within the Student Financial Account Team.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:



1.
Manages all aspects of the student loan program including reconciling loan programs between ECSI and the PeopleSoft General Ledger,
counseling students on various aspects of the loan programs (requirements, repayments, and other questions), assigning defaulted loans back
to the loan program or Department of Education, and counseling students who are in default on their student loans.
2. Collaborates
monthly with the Nursing Department to discuss and advise on nursing loan programs.
3. Handles day to day accounting and banking
functions including but not limited to: Managing and printing banking reports, handing cashier reconciliation, completing bank deposits,
handling billing set up, posting employee charges and advances, processing third-party payments, and processing tuition insurance
claims.
4. Supports customer service functions in the Student Financial Account office, including assistant to students and parents
regarding 1098-Ts and managing the collection process.
5. Maintains subsidiary accounts by reconciling balances and preparing journal
entries for assigned areas.
6. Maintains financial data by researching, collecting and keying data for student accounts
7. Ensures
account accuracy by reconciling transactions; investigating and resolving discrepancies.
8. Functions as liaison with other departments
by communicating and resolving issues.
9. Improves efficiency of operations by researching and developing improvements for the student
accounts process.
10. Ensures Financial Services Office reports requested from external departments are provided in a timely manner.

11. Manages public relations by providing exceptional service to students and other customers in person, online, via telephone, and
email when needed.
12. Maintains historical records by preparing, sorting and filing documents.
13. Performs other related duties as
assigned.

Required Education & Experience:


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 5 years’ of
    experience with basic accounting processes

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Knowledge of basic research techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting processes.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving
    techniques.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations required to perform the job.
  • Knowledge of
    generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of department specific software.
  • Skill in some or all components
    of Microsoft Office.
  • Skill in Microsoft Windows navigation.
  • Ability to develop reports and extract information
    electronically.
  • Ability to learn new software use in the Financial Services Office
  • Ability to analyze and summarize
    financial information.

Physical Requirements (With or Without

  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and
    information.

    typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.

Work Environment:


  • Work is indoors and
    sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
  • This role is an on campus, in-person position.
  • There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
  • The noise level in this work environment is usually
    moderate.
