Position Introduction:

The Data Institute for Societal Challenges (DISC), a unit within the University of
Oklahoma’s Office of the Vice President for Research and Partnerships (VPRP), is seeking an innovative and motivated Applications Developer
to join our growing team. DISC advances interdisciplinary research by providing the expertise, technologies, and collaborative environment
needed to turn complex data into actionable insights and impactful solutions.



As an Applications Developer, you will play a key role
in designing, developing, and maintaining data analysis pipelines, software applications, data-driven tools, and visualization platforms
that support cutting-edge research and decision-making. You will collaborate with researchers, data scientists, and technology professionals
to develop solutions that accelerate discovery, innovation, and societal impact.

We are seeking candidates with
experience in:


  • Full-stack web application design, development, and maintenance
  • REST API design, development, documentation
    and integration
  • HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and React.js
  • Familiarity with authentication, user roles, data privacy and secure
    handling of sensitive or research data
  • Git and version control workflows
  • Containerization and deployment tools such as
    Docker or Kubernetes
  • Data visualization, analytics, and dashboard development
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine
    Learning (ML) concepts and applications
  • Strong prior experience working in a research setting.

Required
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months
    related experience in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree.

Department Preferences:


  • Master’s Degree in Computer
    Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Engineering, Statistics or similar field.
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Experience working in a higher education setting with faculty, researchers, students, and staff.
  • Experience working within a
    research-focused environment such as a laboratory, research center, or interdisciplinary research group.
