Job Summary

The Health Learning Resource Lab Specialist supports the preparation,
coordination, and operational readiness of health sciences learning laboratories and clinical skills learning environments. This role
applies nursing knowledge to prepare safe, realistic, and instructionally accurate skills-based learning experiences for nursing and allied
health program students. The position supports effective skills laboratory operations through the application of nursing knowledge, clinical
practice standards, and patient-care workflows to ensure high-quality clinical education experiences that reflect current evidence-based
healthcare practices.



Please note: This position is a 40-hour-per-week, 44-week school-year
position
.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities


The following duties are primarily performed and are
essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or
without reasonable accommodation.

Skills Coordination


  • Communicate regularly with program directors regarding
    skills activities, testing needs, required supplies, timelines, and laboratory preparation.
  • Prepare and maintain clinically accurate
    skills labs and patient-care training environments, including hospital rooms, medication administration stations, and bedside treatment
    areas that reflect current healthcare practices.
  • Ensure lab spaces, supplies, and equipment are clean, organized, safe, functional,
    and ready for student and faculty use.
  • Prepare and label simulated medications and medication administration materials using nursing
    knowledge of medication routes, dosage, clinical terminology, and safe medication practices to ensure instructional accuracy.
  • Verify
    simulated medications, IV solutions, syringes, vials, and related materials are clinically accurate, appropriately labeled, safely prepared,
    and consistent with current nursing practice.
  • Identify and remove expired, damaged, unsafe, or clinically inaccurate supplies and
    equipment to maintain compliance with safe practice expectations and laboratory standards.
  • Apply knowledge of nursing workflows,
    patient-care standards, infection prevention practices, and medication administration processes to support realistic learning
    environments.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure skills activities, medication preparation, equipment usage, and
    patient-care environments accurately reflect current nursing and evidence-based healthcare practices.

Equipment, Supplies &
Inventory

  • Maintain inventory and organization of supplies, equipment, and clinical resources required for skills-based learning
    activities.
  • Monitor supply levels; receive, label, organize, store, restock, and track equipment and materials to support efficient
    laboratory operations and resource planning.
  • Coordinate equipment and resource checkout, return, and storage
    processes.
  • Clean, maintain, inspect, refill, and prepare clinical skills equipment, including IV arms, IV bags, medication carts,
    and related training resources, ensuring equipment remains functional, current, and ready for use.
  • Identify supply and equipment
    needs and communicate purchasing recommendations to the supervisor.
  • Assist in evaluating supplies, equipment, and lab resources to
    support current healthcare practices and instructional needs.

Organizational Support


  • Provide responsive operational
    and laboratory support to faculty before, during, and after scheduled skills activities and testing.
  • Support faculty and students in
    accessing laboratory supplies, equipment, and instructional resources.
  • Maintain professional communication and collaborative working
    relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
  • Participate in tours, recruitment activities, K-12 events,
    Summer Camps, and other outreach activities as assigned.
  • Cross-train to the Simulation Technology Specialist role.
  • Support
    departmental operations and perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Required

In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides
the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.


Education: Associate’s Degree (or
Equivalent)

Experience: 2 years


Additional Experience Information:

  • Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN)
    license in the State of Wisconsin, required.
  • Minimum one year of recent acute care clinical nursing experience,
    required.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

involving a variety of concrete variables with limited standardization; interpret written, oral and diagrammed
instructions.

Ability to manage and track document changes; create, modify and format templates and
files; ability to use multiple computer screens and multitask in several computer applications.

Skills:


Ability to actively listen, discern key information, and respond professionally; ask follow up or clarifying questions to
diffuse escalated situations and offer appropriate problem resolution when necessary.

Other Requirements


  • Demonstrated
    knowledge of medication administration, bedside nursing care, infection prevention, and clinical equipment used in contemporary healthcare
    environments.
  • Able to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment with ability to multi-task.
  • Able to work independently and
    be self-motivated
  • Able to organize, schedule, and prioritize work based on scheduled activities
  • Hold a valid Wisconsin
    driver’s license upon employment with the ability to meet NTC’s insurance carrier’s criteria
