POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Compensation Specialist is responsible for supporting specific
groups with compensation administration and implementation for UMass Chans various compensation programs. This includes areas related to
compensation requirements, including position redesign, job descriptions and evaluations, FLSA testing, salary administration and conducting
compensation analyses. This position will assist in the implementation of compensation programs and help translate strategy into results.
The Senior Compensation Specialist will support our compliance with relevant federal and state wage and salary laws and regulations. Perform
financial/compensation modeling and analysis to support sound compensation decision-making.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the analysis and recommendations of job evaluations, salary administration and other related UMass Chan compensation
programs. - Perform analytical studies in a variety of compensation areas, such as internal and external equity, competitive pay
practices, incentive compensation, and emerging trends. - Review and recommend the approval of a variety of compensation actions such
as promotions, above guideline job offers, off cycle pay increases, etc. - Collaborates with the team to review job descriptions
(Education & Experience, Skill Sets), job classifications, internal equity, market data, salary bands, etc. in the analysis and review of
positions within the organization. - Analyze a variety of compensation and employee data to assist managers in meeting the
organizations needs. - Educate and train managers in the process of conducting market analysis for new and existing roles and how MEPA
is critical for our compliance. - Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to support offers and ensure pay equity.
- Runs
data reports to be used in preparing Compensation metrics. - Other duties and responsibilities as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in business, Finance, Management or a relevant discipline or
equivalent experience - 5-7 years experience with compensation programs and/or analysis work.
- Knowledge of federal and state
wage and salary laws and regulations. - Experience with databases for accessing compensation information and associated job
descriptions. - Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities to deadlines.
- Strong Technical Skills (MS
office – Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint, and PowerPoint) - Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with and present effectively
to leadership, stakeholders and peers.

base salary range for this position. Offers are typically made within the midrange to allow for future growth and development within the
role.
