DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Shuttle
Services is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Sr. Transit Operator/Trainer to support our transportation team. This role is responsible
for safely operating university shuttle buses, providing exceptional customer service, and assisting with driver training and evaluations.
We’re looking for individuals who prioritize safety, reliability, and outstanding customer service while helping keep the UC San Diego
community moving safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Safely operate buses carrying 16-65 passengers
    on campus, between UC San Diego locations, and other approved destinations.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and
    perform basic cleaning and maintenance checks.
  • Maintain vehicle safety logs and operational records.
  • Provide excellent
    customer service to students, staff, faculty, patients, and visitors.
  • Participate in and support driver instruction,
    behind-the-wheel training, coaching, and performance assessments.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid California Class A
    or B Driver License with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements.
  • Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  • Minimum one year of
    commercial driving experience (two years preferred).
  • Knowledge of California commercial driving regulations and safe driving
    practices.
  • Ability to perform vehicle safety inspections and identify maintenance concerns.
  • Strong communication, customer
    service, and driver training skills.
  • Experience operating 16-65 passenger vehicles on city streets and highways
    preferred.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS


  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening required.
  • Subject to
    random drug/alcohol testing and DMV license checks.

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the
California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and Requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse,
or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in
order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as Required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy,
and to complete and submit the Required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.
