Description Summary

The Part-Time Staff Assistant for Public Safety Technologies will provide support for the Director with
concentration on electrical lineworker and fire training. The duties and responsibilities listed below will define the role of the Staff
Assistant.



Minimum Qualifications


Required:

  • Associate degree in Office Systems
    Technology or related field. Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of
    Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC.
  • Two years of full-time clerical experience in an office
    environment.
  • Demonstrated use of MSOffice computer software.
  • Ability to make moderately complex computations rapidly
    and accurately.
  • Understand and be committed to the unique nature and role of the College.

Preferred
Qualifications


Preferred:

  • Five or more years of experience in an educational institution.

Essential Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following and other
duties as needed.


  • Treat others respectfully, speak to others courteously, and behave in such a way that creates a workplace

    cordial and professionally appropriate.
  • Model an understanding of and commitment to the comprehensive community college
    philosophy and mission.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Director that includes class set up and close out, memoranda,
    reports, documents, forms, tabulations, and other materials.
  • Process all correspondence such as approval letters, miscellaneous
    letters, and memoranda.
  • Answer requests and inquiries for information relating to electrical lineworker, fire, and emergency
    services programs over the phone, email, and in person
  • Provide assistance to emergency services staff with computer operations
    consisting of work processing and e-mail.
  • Process all travel authorizations, requisitions, and reimbursements for electrical
    lineworker and fire training staff.
  • Assist with coordinating the inventory and storage for the department (catalogs, curriculum
    brochures, etc.).
  • Check records and papers for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards and procedures
    and course audits.
  • Assist staff with special assignments and projects.
  • Answer requests and inquiries for information
    relating to EMS programs.
  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as directed by the EMS Program Coordinator.


Students:

  • Handle inquiries and requests for information from students and general public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the coordinator.


Other:

  • Assume responsibility for being familiar with
    and adhering to all policies of the College.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the dean.
  • Model an understanding of
    and commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy and mission.
