Tri-County Technical College invites applicants to apply to the role as a tutor for our STEM courses including any of the following: math, biology, chemistry, &/or physics. Applicants should be confident and proficient in explaining concepts within their field to students. Potential tutors should feel comfortable working one-on-one or online with students. Tutors have the opportunity to become certified through the College Reading and Learning Association.

The successful Candidate must embody the following:


  • Completion of coursework in subject that will be tutored with satisfactory grades
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Word processing and basic computer skills
  • Eagerness to work with a diverse student population
  • For candidates who have not yet completed a degree, a minimum of one reference must come from an instructor in a STEM course that can speak to your level of academic achievement.

Must be able to work a minimum of 4 hours per week during business hours, or online in the evening.

Minimum and Additional Requirements


At least a Bachelor’s degree with major or minor emphasis in content area

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Word processing and basic computer skills
  • Eagerness to work with a diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications


  • Extensive experience in content area through advanced degrees or work experience
  • Experience with tutoring models and learning strategies
  • Experience navigating common software in higher education, such as Blackboard or Starfish
