Duties and Responsibilities:
General Work:

  • Checking all deliveries against Purchase orders and reports any discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Inspecting products to insure they meet food safety standards.
  • Using FIFO method puts all deliveries into designated storage units.
  • Assembling products needed for food production for the day and delivering to the kitchen.
  • Using stocking par sheets, stocking storage areas in the production and dining areas.
  • Weighing and measuring ingredients accurately for daily recipes and placing on production carts following safe food handling methods.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in receiving area and storage units.
  • Taking inventory as directed by supervisor.
  • Answering phone and delivering items to production area as needed.
  • Practicing proper methods of food handling and sanitation.
  • Working effectively with other employees.
  • Working effectively with customers.
  • Being courteous and timely.
  • Following written and oral instructions.
  • Following basic dress code and hygiene standards set by University Dining.
  • Delivering and setting up food items at various campus locations as needed.
  • Working at multiple locations and functions, including occasional outdoor events.

Food Preparation:


  • Completes all basic food preparation tasks in any normal kitchen or prep area which would include cleaning, peeling, dicing, chopping, slicing, dicing, and all other similar tasks related to preparation of raw food items.
  • Ability to unload carts and trucks of food products weighing up to 80 lbs. And the ability to push and pull typical food service industry carts containing food products.
  • Ability to read and understand basic recipes and reports used in the food service operation.
  • Ability to work safely with basic food service equipment such as knives, slicers, and mixers.


SAFETY

  • Work safely by using Personal Protective Equipment, maintaining equipment, following safety procedures and policies, etc.
  • Leave the work area clean and functional at the end of shift.
  • Be aware of and report any potential safety hazards to supervisor or management immediately
  • Cooperate with safety investigations and audits.
  • Attend safety training sessions and maintain licenses, certifications, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school or any combination of experience and training.Demonstrated ability to work independently, perform manual tasks for extended periods of time and do simple recordkeeping.Ability to lift to 50 lbs. without assistance.Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.Attention to detail.Commitment to inclusive practices and working with diverse student populations.Valid driver’s license.Successful interview.Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred Qualifications



  • Six months’ experience in a stockroom or warehouse.
  • Knowledge of food service software, Microsoft Excel, Word, and/or Outlook.

    • load and unload carts and trucks of food products weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance and up to 80 lbs. with assistance.
    • push and pull typical food service industry carts containing food products or banquet furniture weighing over 50 lbs.
    • lift 40-50 lbs. repetitively and work in cold storage areas for extended periods of time.
    • Legally and physically able to drive university vehicles including food service van.
