Description:

The Talent Acquisition Specialist supports hiring across all departments by managing the full
recruitment process from job posting through offer delivery. This role builds strong partnerships with hiring managers and performs the
activities supporting the recruitment, screening and referral of primarily exempt applicants for the university. Posts positions, advises
search committees, monitors employment activities, and may participate in outreach events. Establishes and maintains liaison with external
agencies and recruiting sources. Coordinates placement of job advertisements. Maintains oversight for all employment functions for UHCL.
Position is on-campus and reports to the Director, Human Resources.


Duties:

  • Oversees the applicant tracking
    system. Prepares and posts vacancies to external sites. Reviews applications to screen for qualified applicants and refers qualified
    applicants to hiring departments. Keeps all job cards, candidate applications, and statuses updated. Maintains oversight for talent
    acquisition functions for UHCL and provides guidance to other talent acquisition team members.
  • Collects search paperwork including
    screening/interviewing documentation; reviews search documentation upon completion; closes search files documenting search activity. Reviews
    recommended hires for staff searches. Prepares request to hire for approval. Makes approved job offers and coordinates counter salary
    negotiations.
  • Provides guidance to hiring departments concerning hiring practices and interprets policies; answers questions from
    applicants concerning vacancies, pay, benefits, policies and university community. Supports candidates by ensuring clear, respectful, and
    timely communication. Serves as a consistent point of contact and advocates for a positive candidate experience. Trains new users on
    application system and provides technical support, problem-solving and decision making.
  • Coordinates advertising process for
    external recruiting purposes. Serves as liaison to external agencies including temporary staffing agencies and other recruiting sources.
    Serves as Veteran’s liaison as needed. Offers feedback and contributes to improvements in search process, workflows, and candidate
    engagement. Attends job/career fairs as needed and performs related duties as assigned.

Required
Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Five years of related experience.

Preferred
Qualifications:


  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources.
  2. Similar work experience in higher education setting.
  3. PHR or SPHR Certifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be service oriented with excellent
    interpersonal skills as well as experience managing multiple open positions simultaneously while maintaining process accuracy.
  • Experience using an applicant tracking system.
  • Must have professional and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be familiar with or capable of learning and employing effective interviewing techniques.
  • Must be able to effectively
    interact at all levels and exercise good judgment in dealing with confidential information and materials.
  • Must be able to
    prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work independently as well as have a strong sense of accountability, responsiveness, and
    follow-through.
  • Must be enthusiastic self-starter with energy and drive, and contribute as a positive working member in a team
    environment.
