Job Description:

The Temporary Academic Support Assistant will play a
significant role assisting student-athlete academic development. This position will afford the individual an opportunity to gain hands-on
experience with respect to providing support services to student-athletes. Individuals in this role will work closely with Stevenson
Educational Center Academic Coordinators to create and execute academic support plans for Syracuse University student-athletes.
Additionally, they will facilitate the smooth functioning of Stevenson Educational Centers academic programming in a wide range of
capacities. Through the course of their work, they will develop familiarity with institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and processes related to student-athlete eligibility and retention.



Education and
Experience:

  • Bachelors degree required, masters degree preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:


  • Excellent
    organizational skills, demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point etc.
  • Strong communication,
    interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity/experience working with populations that reflect cultural,
    academic, socioeconomic, gender and ethnic diversity.
  • High level of intrinsic motivation.
  • Ability to work evening and
    weekends.

Responsibilities:

  • Helping with daily operations including student tracking, learning support, study hall
    monitoring, and research.
  • Mentoring a caseload of at-risk student-athletes and monitoring their academic progress through regular
    individual meetings.
  • Providing administrative support to Stevenson Educational Center full-time staff.
  • Monitoring academic
    support appointments and facility during assigned coverage blocks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
