Job Summary

The Time and Absence Specialist is responsible for administering, monitoring, and maintaining all aspects of employee timekeeping and university leave records. This role ensures accurate and compliant tracking of work hours, leave balances, and attendance records while serving as a primary resource for employees and supervisors regarding time and absence policies. The Time and Absence Specialist supports Human Resources operations by ensuring data integrity, resolving discrepancies, and providing guidance on institutional, state, and federal regulations related to time and absence.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively navigate and utilize time and attendance systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion) and HR information systems (HRIS).
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ability to identify and resolve timekeeping issues and system errors.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local labor laws related to time and attendance.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to employees
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees and management.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • Two years of experience in human resources, payroll, timekeeping, or related experience
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FMLA and other leave laws
  • Experience in higher education, healthcare, or large organizational settings
  • Familiarity with complex timekeeping systems (e.g., Oracle Kronos, UKG, Banner, Workday).
