Job Summary:

Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring online and in-person to students struggling with the Dental Hygiene course subject matter. Courses covered in the spring semester will be Histology/Embryology, Pharmacology, Oral Radiography, and Dental Hygiene II. Document tutoring outcomes in the scheduling platform. Connect students with support services as appropriate.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provide online and in-person tutoring to individuals and small groups.
  • Review organizational and study strategies with students.
  • Participate in departmental and inter-departmental meetings and attend in-service and other job-related training.
  • Refer students to college support services and other college departments when necessary.
  • Communicate with the campus coordinator to ensure the continued successful operation of the program.
  • Document tutoring outcomes using Starfish software and shared documents.
  • Experience with college technologies, including tutoring platforms, learning management systems, and conferencing technologies, preferred.
  • Assist in general office management as needed, including answering phones, covering the front desk, assisting visitors, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Earned an associate’s degree in dental Hygiene required.

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in providing tutoring in higher education, a community organization, or a high school preferred.
  • Demonstrated advocacy and commitment to student success and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by community college and developmental education students.

Shift, Days, and Additional Work Schedule Information:



Approximately 6-8 hours per week, ideally with in-person shifts on Wednesday and Friday afternoons (1 to 4 p.m.); possibility to include some virtual evening and/or weekend hours for student appointments.
