Job Summary

The Plumber position is
responsible for performing skilled plumbing work involving the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of domestic water,
sanitary sewer, stormwater, gas, and related plumbing systems across campus facilities. This position supports the operational continuity of
academic, residential, athletic, dining, and administrative buildings through preventive maintenance, emergency response, inspections, and
repair activities while ensuring compliance with applicable plumbing and safety codes.

Authority and
Accountability


This position reports to the Plumbing Supervisor or designated Facilities Operations management staff. This
position does not directly supervise employees but may assist in coordinating contractors, vendors, temporary employees, or student workers
as assigned. The position is responsible for maintaining University plumbing systems and supporting operational response to campus
infrastructure issues and emergencies.

Required/Minimum Qualifications


  • High school diploma or
    GED
  • Experience performing commercial, institutional, or industrial plumbing
  • Working knowledge of plumbing systems, fixtures,
    drains, water distribution systems, and applicable plumbing codes
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair plumbing-related equipment and
    infrastructure
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications
  • Valid driver’s license with
    acceptable driving record
  • Ability to lift, climb, bend, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding work in varying
    environmental conditions
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations and support after-hours operational needs as
    assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyman Plumber license
  • Experience in higher education,
    institutional, or large campus environments
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management
    systems (CMMS)
  • Experience with natural gas systems, pumps, water heaters, and utility infrastructure
  • OSHA or safety-related
    certifications

Additional Job Information:


The position is a full-time, non-exempt state role with comprehensive
benefits.
