Develop Innovative Solutions That Advance Public Health


The University of Kentucky is seeking an Application Programmer Analyst III to join the Public Health Analytics and Informatics team, supporting the design and delivery of technology solutions that power research, analytics, and decision-making.

This position combines software development, data analytics, and public health innovation, where technology is used to solve complex problems and improve outcomes. You’ll lead development efforts, guide technical strategy, and collaborate with researchers and stakeholders to build scalable, impactful applications.



What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design and development of custom applications and systems using modern programming languages and frameworks
  • Guide projects through the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering through deployment and support
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze business needs and translate them into technical solutions
  • Oversee application performance, maintenance, and enhancements across multiple platforms and environments
  • Utilize technologies such as Python, .NET, JavaScript frameworks, SQL, and open-source tools to build and support applications
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, workflows, and system standards
  • Supervise and mentor junior developers, providing direction, feedback, and technical guidance
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to innovation and continuous improvement efforts

What You’ll Bring


  • Experience in full-stack application development, including web-based and data-driven systems
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages and tools such as Python, C#, JavaScript frameworks, SQL, and cloud or DevOps environments
  • Ability to lead projects and manage competing priorities in a complex, fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop scalable, efficient solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical teams and non-technical stakeholders

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of related experience
