Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Business Officer of Personnel will provide leadership and oversight for the College’s financial management and human resources administration. This role serves as the lead personnel officer for the College of Arts and Sciences, responsible for ensuring accurate personnel management and HR compliance across all units. The position guides processes related to budget planning, payroll, position management, faculty hiring, and personnel-related reporting. Acts as a strategic liaison between departments and central offices for all finance and personnel functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include:


  • Develop and manage college-wide budgets associated with salary projections.
  • Process and monitor supplemental instruction allocations, lapsed salary use, one-time pay distributions, and graduate contracts.
  • Lead HR functions: initiate hiring actions, manage onboarding, coordinate candidate search and interview processes, and oversee payroll and compensation.
  • Manage faculty hiring processes and budgetary approvals for new positions.
  • Approve time for all CAS employees and ensure proper reporting.
  • Maintain up-to-date position records and act as primary contact for HR and budget queries.
  • Serves as supervisory lead for HR-related issues and ensures compliance with institutional policies. 7 positions in the College office and 17 departments, 4 centers and 3 programs.

Work Schedule/Hours:Mon-Fri., 8:00-5:00, with some overtime
Suggested Salary Range: $70,000-$74,000
