Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide dining services support to the College. This is accomplished by preparing food, menu planning, stocking, delivering orders and dining room work. Other duties may include but are not limited to providing cashier support, maintaining cleanliness in all areas, working event concessions and catered events.



This position will provide coverage at catered events and assist at the campus cafes event concessions when needed during evenings and weekends.

This is a non-exempt staff position


Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position


Required Education

High school diploma or GED


Required Experience

Minimum of two years of food service experience, including at least one year as a prep cook or line cook


Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to drive campus vehicles.
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to cook for large- and small-scale events
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to Lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications


  • ServSafe Certification/Alcohol Awareness Trained.
  • ServSafe or Food Handler and/or Sanitation Certification
  • Food service preparation and cooking experience for small and large events
  • Supervisory experience

General Weekly Work Schedule

Must be flexible and available to work evenings and weekends for events.



The general schedule will be Monday to Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The schedule is made according to the catering and event calendar. Final schedule to be determined by the supervisor.
