Position Summary: Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for full-time, Building Service Foreman, Residence Hall Operation, Housing and Dining. This position will be responsible for supervising BSW’s within the building service operation in the cleaning of all Residence Halls and Dining Facilities, discipline as required, train in cleaning techniques and use of chemicals, maintain security of supplies and equipment, evaluate performance and perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise BSW’s under his/her control daily
- Instruct BSW on what is required of them each day
- Perform duties of BSW’s due to absence or in emergency situations
- Train BSW’s in his/her area in all aspects of cleaning
- Train on how to operate equipment
- Train on how to handle and use chemicals
- Communicate with campus customers
- Maintain inventory control and check supplies for accuracy
- Assuring all keys issued are under proper control
- Inspect and evaluate BSW areas on a weekly basis
- Observe BSW’s several times each day to guarantee continuity
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School graduation or equivalent
- Three (3) years (36) months of experience in building custodial work
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of building service materials, cleaning solutions, equipment and custodial methods, cleaning techniques and procedures
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
- Ability to review work for accuracy, ability to read and write work-related communication reports, communicate effectively, exert muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects, lift up to 50 lbs, complete tasks in a timely manner and ability to use computers, Etc.
Work Hours
The core work hours of this position are 37.5 hours per week, schedule varies per position.
Salary/Pay Rate Range
$25.00 per hour
