Description
As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent
many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a 21st Century Scholar Success Coordinator to promote our Catholic Franciscan
mission and identity by supporting, advising, and advocating for 21st Century Scholars while fostering their academic success, personal
development, and engagement within the Marian University community.
The 21st Century Scholar Success Coordinator reports to the
Assistant Vice President of Transformational Leadership and serves as a key member of the Transformational Leadership team. The Coordinator
is a student-centered professional with strong relationship-building and communication skills who is committed to supporting student
persistence, success, and belonging. This individual will collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to connect students with
resources and opportunities that contribute to their overall educational experience and achievement.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
- Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the
Franciscan Sponsorship Vales and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity,
leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies - Serve as an academic success coach to state aid
recipients through providing culturally relevant coaching offering individualized support - Support the Marian Leadership Initiative
and the Unity Center through career and leadership related programming and workshops - Support the Indiana Commission for Higher
Education’s commitment to close the achievement gap by 2025 by staying up to date on the college equity reports and attending workshops
related to promising practices in equity and inclusion - Support the Retention Scholarship Initiative and provide coaching to
students through this process - Facilitate group coaching sessions, workshops, and cohort meetings
- Lead focus groups to
gather student feedback and assess Scholar experience - Develop initiatives based on student needs and trends
- Oversee summer
academic engagement initiatives for Scholars enrolled in summer coursework - Support Frank O’Bannon Recipients / 21st
Century Scholars through the appeal process when scholarship expectations are not met - Monitor the academic progress for all Marian
University 21st Century Scholars and Frank O’Bannon students utilizing early warning alerts, midterm and final grades, and other
metrics to ensure retention and on time completion - Partner with the Academic Commons, Marian Leadership Initiative, Counseling and
Consultation Services and the Exchange to program culturally relevant academic, career, and wellness initiatives - Support early
move-in orientation programs - Serve as a liaison to key departments across campus such as the Office of Financial Aid, the
Registrar, and the Business Office to ensure retention of Frank O’Bannon Recipients / 21st Century Scholars - Maintain
office hours for walk-in appointments - Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic
work environment

Required Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each

- Bachelor’s degree in
education, counseling, leadership, psychology, social work, communications, or related field - Experience with supporting and
advocating with racially diverse student populations especially in predominantly white institutions - Experience supporting and
advocating with low-income students - Demonstrated success programming culturally relevant events designed to promote inclusion and
foster a sense of belonging for historically disenfranchised students in an educational setting - Demonstrated commitment to one’s
own ongoing development of peace and justice values and actions - Preference will be given to:
- Candidates with a master’s
degree in education, counseling, leadership, psychology, social work, communications, or related field - Bilingual applicants
- Candidates with a master’s
