Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance, the HVAC Mechanic is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled HVAC maintenance.



Job Duties

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance via an Automated Preventative Maintenance Program.


Handle unscheduled HVAC problems, adjustments & repairs as necessary.

Assist other Maintenance Employees in day-to-day maintenance, renovations, and upkeep of buildings.


Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.

Minimum Qualifications


High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license
EPA certified and licensed
Two years of relevant education or experience

Preferred Qualifications


Completed HVAC apprenticeship
Electrical license
Experience with physical plant chiller and boiler
Experience with Metasys operating system

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


Technology Skills: MS Office suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
Ability to use Energy Management System
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance, climb ladders, and stoop and stand repeatedly
Knowledge of gas and electrically operated HVAC systems
Knowledge of interpreted schematics and electrical codes
Knowledge of the materials, methods, and principles used in the performance of air conditioning and heating maintenance and repair
Knowledge of the use, care, and maintenance of required tools and equipment both specialized and common
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Ability to use and operate required tools and equipment
Ability to read and follow specifications and blueprints
Good verbal and written communications skills
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees
