– THE SEAT

seats” in our organization, and that the expectations, ownership and accountabilities are defined and communicated clearly for the success
of the individuals holding the seats.

The bus driver – athletics is responsible for safely operating the athletics’ bus according to
assigned schedule. This position is an exciting way to be involved with CMU Athletics and support our teams on the road. Hours will vary
depending on the time of year and can be very flexible. Athletic Team schedules are busy and change frequently so the Bus Driver must be
able and willing to adapt.

OVERVIEW AND ROLE SCOPE OF
TEAM AND/OR TASKS


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be
assigned.

  • Operate 27 and 56 passenger athletics’ bus in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant laws, policies, and
    procedures. May also be asked to drive 15-passenger vans.
  • Install tire chains, when weather conditions require
  • Perform
    regular safety and maintenance checks and report any maintenance or safety issues to supervisor or his/her designee
  • Clean the bus as
    necessary
  • Ensure that the bus is safely and securely parked and/or stored
  • Maintain required paperwork, such as CMU
    timesheets, log books, maintenance requests, and other required documentation
  • Travel Required. Will be provided with all meals or
    per diem as well as a private hotel room.
  • Cooperate with coaching staff, and ensure that passengers are aware of conduct
    expectations
  • Represent Colorado Mesa University in a professional manner

Minimum
Qualifications Required:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.

The Athletics Bus
Driver is required to have and maintain, as a minimum, a clean (free of accidents, moving violations or points for past two years) Class B
Commercial Driver’s License with a passenger bus endorsement (CDL-P). The candidate must have proficient knowledge of highway and bus
regulations, record keeping, and equipment cleaning standards, and procedures.



The candidate must

  • Ability to operate bus in a safe and responsible
    manner
  • Use GPS system of preference (on personal phone)

  • Ability to read
    and write to record daily activity

  • Time management skills
  • Mathematical skills to perform
    basic math functions and to calculate as necessary for required log books and documentation
